Our History
Our Story
From a small college to a nationally recognised institution
AILDS was founded with a clear conviction: that Africa needs institutions that train leaders from within, grounded in African realities and equipped with globally competitive skills. What began as the Danville College of Administration and Hospitality Management has grown into a multi-school institution offering programmes across leadership, business, hospitality, and technology.
Founded as Danville College of Administration and Hospitality Management with a focus on business and hospitality programmes.
Expanded to include public administration and governance programmes, responding to growing demand from the public sector.
Rebranded and restructured as the African Institute for Leadership and Development Studies, reflecting a broader institutional mission.
Launched the School of Technology and Innovation, introducing programmes in ICT and digital skills for the modern economy.
Introduced Higher National Diploma and Degree-level programmes, establishing AILDS as a full tertiary institution.
Launched the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation programme, positioning AILDS at the forefront of Africa's digital transformation.

Dr. Albert H. Harvey
Founder & Executive Director
Dr. Harvey is the founder of AILDS and has dedicated over two decades to building institutions that develop African leadership capacity. He holds advanced degrees in public administration and development studies and has advised governments and organisations across West Africa.
Prof. Aminata Koroma
Academic Director
Prof. Koroma oversees the academic programmes and quality assurance processes at AILDS. With a background in education policy and curriculum development, she ensures that AILDS programmes remain rigorous, relevant and aligned with professional standards.
Mr. Samuel Bangura
Director of Operations
Mr. Bangura manages the day-to-day operations of the institution, including student services, facilities and administrative systems. He brings extensive experience in institutional management and organisational development.
Ms. Fatmata Sesay
Head of Admissions & Student Affairs
Ms. Sesay leads the admissions process and student support services at AILDS. She is committed to ensuring that every student has the guidance and resources they need to succeed from the moment they apply.
