Quality Assurance
Accreditation & Partnerships
AILDS is accredited by Sierra Leone's leading national regulatory and quality assurance bodies, ensuring every qualification we award is recognised, credible, and valued by employers and institutions across the country and beyond.
The African Institute for Leadership and Development Studies (AILDS) holds full accreditation from three national bodies: the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC), the National Council for Technical, Vocational and Other Academic Awards (NCTVA), and the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education — TVET Division. Together, these accreditations cover the full breadth of our programme portfolio and confirm that AILDS operates to the highest standards of tertiary and vocational education in Sierra Leone.
Our Accrediting Bodies
Recognised by Sierra Leone's National Authorities
Tertiary Education Commission (TEC)
The Tertiary Education Commission is the statutory body responsible for regulating, promoting, and coordinating tertiary education in Sierra Leone. AILDS is fully accredited by the TEC, affirming that our programmes meet the national standards for quality tertiary education and that our qualifications are recognised across Sierra Leone.
Scope: All Certificate, Diploma, HND, and Professional Development programmes
National Council for Technical, Vocational and Other Academic Awards (NCTVA)
The NCTVA is the national body mandated to set standards, accredit, and award certificates for technical and vocational education and training in Sierra Leone. AILDS accreditation by the NCTVA validates our technical and vocational programmes and ensures graduates receive nationally recognised qualifications that are valued by employers and professional bodies.
Scope: Technical, Vocational, and Professional Certification programmes
Ministry of Technical and Higher Education — TVET Division
The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Division of the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education oversees the development and quality assurance of TVET provision in Sierra Leone. AILDS is recognised and approved by the TVET Division, ensuring our programmes align with national workforce development priorities and contribute to Sierra Leone's human capital agenda.
Scope: TVET-aligned programmes across all departments
Why It Matters
